The author, Eric Scerri, teaches chemistry and the history and philosophy of science at the University of California, Los Angeles, U.S.A. He has published widely about the development and structure of the Periodic Table, and is the Editor-in-Chief of the journal Foundations of Chemistry ().He was an invited speaker at the conference, “The Periodic Table: Into the 21st Century” (see. Book: Mazurs, Edward G. Graphic Representations of the Periodic System During One Hundred Years. (First Ed. , 2 nd Ed ), The University of Alabama Press, Journal: J.E. Clausen.

Think about this for a minute – even chemists don’t think that this standard representation is the best one. In fact they have been coming up with alternative representations for years and years. Mazurs () lists over of them in his book, Graphical Representations of the Periodic System During One Hundred Years. My biggest discovery this week has been a collection in our archives of the notes of Edward Mazurs, who wrote the definitive work on classifying different systems of periodic tables in with a revised edition in (Graphic Representations of the Periodic System During One Hundred Years; University of Alabama Press).Mazurs was a professor of chemistry at the University of Riga in Latvia.

He was an invited speaker at the confer-ence, “The Periodic Table: Into the 21st Century” (see also (2)). This book is timely – it is over thirty years since books about the periodic system by Mazurs (3) and van Spronsen (4) were.   Turning the periodic table upside down E. G. G. For those of us who grew up the standard form of the table hanging on the walls of the chemistry lab this book is an eyeopener. This book changed the way I think about chemistry.4/5(1). The Hardcover of the Graphic Representations of the Periodic System during One Hundred Years by Edward G.

Its classic and new formulations are reported. The improvements in the description of the characteristics determining the properties underlying the periodicity are occurred in the sequence: the atomic weight-the nuclear charge-the total number of s-electrons in the atom of s-block, p Cited by: 9.

In his book Edward G. Mazurs (2nd edition) Graphic Representations of the Periodic System During One Hundred Years, University of Alabama Press gives a comprehensive analysis of periodic table formulations.

Mazurs identifies most PT formulations as being: Spiral; Plane lemniscate; Concentric circles; Helix on a cylinder; Helix on a cone; Space lemniscate. Graphic representations of the periodic system during one hundred years.

An excellent modem account of the historical developments leading up to Mendeleev’s table. E. G. MAZURS, Graphic Representation of the Periodic System during One Hundred Years, University of Alabama Press, Alabama,   Edward Mazurs' seminal work, Graphic Representations of the Periodic System During One Hundred Years, provides a definitive review of the many versions of the periodic table in world literature, including illustrations and references for over tables and classifications of approximately types.

In addition, Mazurs’ work notably re-asserts the idea of the eight-period Author: Ashley Augustyniak.4. E. G. Mazurs, Graphic Representations of the Periodic System During One Hundred Years (Univ.
